A27 BAILEY BRIDGE



GR White & Son has been awarded the lighting contract for the replacement of Bailey bridge over the river Irvine in North Ayrshire.

The Original Bridge was constructed in 1971 as a temporary measure to carry single carriageway traffic in to the centre of the town. Due to the increased volume of traffic in recent years the decision was made to replace the bridge.

The Bridge carries the A71, a two lane single carriageway road over the river Irvine.

Work on the new structure began in May 2009 and the bridge is due to be reopened in April 2010. Work on the Bridge lighting is due to commence early in 2010.
